does anyone know how to go about talking room to room,,,,if their is any charge or not? (we have freinds in cabins at the other end of ship) thanks

No problem not to worry. Room to Room is free - just dial em up.
Another alternative is walkie talkies......range wil vary throughout the ship, but many folks do that to stay in touch.

On our previous HAL ships, to call another cabin, you'd touch 0 + the cabin number. It'll probably be the same on the Nieuw Amsterdam, but if not, the correct method will be visible in your cabin. If ever in doubt about this OR ANYTHING, just call the Front Office. They are always happy to help.

Yes, it's free to call other cabins on Nieuw Amsterdam, and you can leave voicemail as well.
Virgin LRBC cruise scheduled for October 2012! Are we there yet?
